Upgrade Policy

There is a difference between an upgrade and an update.
All UPDATES to the program are free.

Updates

Updates are minor feature additions, enhancements and fixes, and are portrayed as a change to the right part of the version number. i.e. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. For instance, registered users of Program Protector 2.0 are entitled to Program Protector 2.1 free of charge.

Upgrades

Upgrades are major changes to the program, and could incur an additional charge. Upgrades are depicted by a change in the left part of the version number. i.e. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc. Usually previous version license owners can upgrade their copies of the software for a special price which is usually 30%-60% of the purchase price.

Why do we charge for Upgrades?

Upgrade fees enable us to create new product versions and develop new features, because it usually takes considerable amount of time and money to create and release a new major version of a software product.

Consider this analogy - when you buy a new computer, although you get free maintenance and guarantee, you would not expect a new computer to be delivered to you every few years free of charge. The same applies to software.
